How to install
- Open the official download page using the button on this page. Choose your operating system and review the publisher’s current system requirements.
- On Windows, download the installer that matches your computer and follow its setup prompts. On macOS, choose Intel or Apple Silicon where offered, open the disk image and follow its instructions.
- On Linux, follow the publisher’s distribution or package instructions. The correct method varies by distribution; a Windows installer will not work on Linux.
- Launch the application and try a small file first. Keep project files and original media in a folder you can find again.
Your first useful task
Open a copy of your image, crop it and adjust its appearance. Save a working project before exporting a JPG or PNG, then inspect the exported file.
Before you choose
Choose GIMP for detailed image editing. For a quick resize or compression task, our browser tools can be a shorter workflow. GIMP is not a vector illustration application.
Free software still takes time to learn. Work on a copy of important files and review the result before replacing the original. GetFree4U does not bundle an installer or change the publisher’s software.
Download questions
Does this button download a file directly?
No. It opens the official publisher’s download page so you can select the correct current installer.
Which version should I choose?
For everyday work, choose the stable release offered for your operating system. Check compatibility on the download page; this guide does not pin a version number.
