Choose the right tool for your PDF task
Changing existing text, preparing an image and exporting a document are different jobs. Start with the file you have and the result you need.
For a small PDF correction: LibreOffice Draw
Draw can open PDF content for editing. Work on a duplicate, make a small correction and export a new PDF. Inspect every affected page: fonts, line breaks and imported elements can change. It is not a promise of perfect round-trip editing for complex documents.
- Install LibreOffice from its official website.
- Open a copy of your PDF in Draw.
- Select the text or graphic you need to adjust.
- Use File → Export As → Export as PDF, and save a separate output.
- Open that output in a PDF reader and compare it with the original.
For the photo inside a document: an image editor
Use GIMP when your task concerns a photo or raster artwork. Keep an editable working file and export an image in the format your document needs. Converting a document page into an image does not preserve editable PDF text; it is not a substitute for a document editor.
For a simple photo resize or file-size reduction, try our Image Resizer or Image Compressor before installing a desktop application.
Scanned pages and signed documents
A scanned page contains an image, so the visible words may not be editable text. You may need an OCR workflow before text editing. Editing can also invalidate an existing digital signature. Keep the original and obtain a fresh signed version when required.
