macOS requirements

For Blender 5.0 and later, Blender lists Apple silicon and macOS 13 Ventura as the minimum. Blender recommends a newer supported macOS release and 32 GB RAM for demanding work. Blender 4.5 LTS is the final branch supporting Intel Macs and older compatible macOS versions.

Will the minimum feel fast?

Minimum requirements indicate whether the application can run; they do not guarantee fast rendering or a smooth heavy scene. Geometry complexity, texture size, simulation and render engine all affect performance. A simple learning project can run on modest hardware while large scenes may need substantially more memory and GPU capacity.

Check before buying hardware

  1. Identify the exact CPU and GPU model, not only the laptop brand.
  2. Check whether RAM is upgradeable.
  3. Review GPU rendering support for the render engine you plan to use.
  4. Use the official requirements page for the current Blender branch.

A machine that cannot run the newest Blender may still support an older release. Keep security and operating-system support in mind before relying on old software.
