Your image is processed locally. The AI engine and model are downloaded from jsDelivr and Hugging Face; those services receive download requests, not your photo. Browser caching can reduce repeat downloads.
How to remove an image background
- Choose a clear image and select Portrait or Objects mode.
- Press Remove background and allow the initial model download to finish.
- Review hair, edges and small details in the result.
- Keep transparency or choose a background colour, then download your PNG.
What to expect
Portrait mode is designed for people. Objects mode handles a wider range of subjects but uses a much larger model and can be slow on a phone. A clear subject separated from its surroundings usually makes a better starting image. Fine hair, glass, shadows and overlapping subjects can need additional editing.
Large images are resized to a maximum of 1600 pixels on the longest side. This tool produces an automatic cutout; it does not include manual brush corrections. If the model cannot load, check your connection, try Portrait mode or use another current browser.
Is the background really transparent?
Yes. The transparent option exports PNG with an alpha channel. The checkerboard is a preview pattern, not part of your downloaded image.
Does it work offline?
The first use needs internet for the engine and model. Browser caching may keep model assets, but this page does not guarantee offline use.
Do I need an API key?
No. Background processing happens on your device, without a paid image-processing API.
