Facebook Login Code Not Received or Unexpected

Troubleshoot Facebook login codes and secure the account after an unexpected verification message.

Facebook login codes may be sent by SMS or generated through another security method. Treat every code as private. If you are signing in, verify the number and use the latest code. If you are not signing in, review the account from the official app or typed website address.

Troubleshoot delivery

Check signal, country code, blocked messages and whether the registered number is still active. Wait for the displayed timer before requesting another code. If you are already signed in on another device, use that session to review contact information and available security methods.

Try approved alternatives

Use the options offered on Facebook’s official login and recovery screens, such as an authenticator app, recognised device or recovery process. Do not use public inboxes or pay someone to receive the code. A number that you do not control is not a reliable recovery factor.

Respond to unexpected codes

Change the password if it is reused or if login activity looks unfamiliar. Review Where you’re logged in, remove unknown sessions and confirm that email and phone recovery details are yours. Enable alerts for unrecognised logins and a stronger second factor.

Avoid impersonation scams

Scammers may pretend to be marketplace buyers, page support or friends and ask for a code. The code is not needed to receive payment, verify a listing or prove identity to another user. Report the account through Facebook’s own tools and keep the code private.

Quick checklist

  • Check the registered number
  • Use the newest code
  • Use official recovery options
  • Review active sessions
  • Ignore anyone requesting the code
